Title-chasing AC Milan look to keep up the pressure on rivals Inter by winning their game in hand, but know European challengers Como will be no pushovers when they make the short trip to the San Siro. Since last beating AC Milan in 1985, Como have lost ten of 15 H2Hs (D5), including each of the last five after losing January’s reverse fixture 3-1. Only one of Como’s last eight away league games saw both teams score.

AC Milan left it late to extend their unbeaten run in Serie A to 23 matches (W15, D8) on Friday, with their 2-1 win against Pisa seeing them score from their only two shots on target. That result helped the Rossoneri just about keep in touch with leaders Inter in the title race, but with an eight-point deficit to their city rivals, victory here feels imperative to keep those hopes alive. A return home could be timely then, with this serving as Milan’s first game at the San Siro in exactly a month, and with a proud 11-game unbeaten home run behind them (W8, D3), few would bet against them closing the gap on the summit.

Como lost ground in the race for European qualification over the weekend when they were defeated 2-1 by Fiorentina. That was a first loss in six outings for Cesc Fabregas’ side (W4, D1), but a record of just one win from seven games (D3, L3) against teams who are above them in the table suggests they’re far from guaranteed to bounce back here. A run of five successive away victories across all competitions gives reason to be positive though, and with their defensive record on the road among the best in Serie A, frustrating their lofty hosts could prove to be their best route to a fourth successive top-flight away win for the first time in history after winning their last three such games 3-0.

Eleven of AC Milan’s last 15 goals have come after half-time. AC Milan have only conceded two first half-goals across their last nine Serie A fixtures. Twelve of Como’s 17 away league goals this season have come after half-time.

Rafael Leão has scored AC Milan’s first goal of the game in nine of his last ten scoring appearances, with six of his last eight Milan goals arriving after half-time. Equally keen on late goals. Tasos Douvikas has netted four of his last five Como goals after the hour mark.

AC Milan’s Adrien Rabiot is suspended after a red card against Pisa. Como’s Álvaro Morata is also suspended, while this game comes a little too soon for Assane Diao.
