Leeds and Manchester United may have only occupied the same division in four of the last 22 seasons, but this remains one of English football’s fiercest rivalries as the pair renew hostilities at Elland Road. Leeds have won just one of the last 19 Premier League H2Hs (D6, L12), with their last such victory coming back in September 2002. Manchester United are chasing their first-ever set of three successive away league H2H wins over Leeds. Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 25 league games against promoted teams (W22, D3).

Leeds’ impressive end to 2025 bled into their opening game of 2026, as a resilient defensive performance earned them a goalless draw against Liverpool at Anfield which stretched their unbeaten run to six matches (W2, D4). They face another heavyweight of the English game here, but Leeds might just fancy their chances having accrued 15 of their 21 points this term at Elland Road, scoring 3+ goals in their last three games here. They last had a longer such run in the top-flight in 1993 (five), but Farke may not be so confident of closing that gap having lost all three of his managerial meetings with Manchester United, only facing Southampton (five) more often while losing each time.

Opposite number Ruben Amorim came in for criticism from his own fanbase after reverting to his five-at-the-back system against bottom-of-the-table Wolves, with a dismal performance in a 1-1 draw stretching Manchester United’s recent slump to one win in their last four games (D2, L1). The Red Devils begin the round inside the top six, but things could’ve been so much better as they’ve already dropped more points from winning positions (12) than they did in the whole of last season (11). Brenden Aaronson has seen seven of his last eight Leeds goals come at Elland Road, with the last three opening the scoring inside six minutes.
