A spot at Wembley awaits the winner of this FA Cup quarter-final clash between West Ham United and Leeds United, neither of whom have reached the last four of this competition since 2005/06. West Ham United have won three of the four H2Hs at the London Stadium (L1), but it was Leeds United who won 2-1 when these two sides met at Elland Road earlier in the season. Seven of West Ham’s last nine games produced under 2.5 goals.

The FA Cup could be a welcome distraction for West Ham United, who are a point adrift of safety in the Premier League and can hardly profess to be in great form. The Hammers have won just one of their last six games inside 90 minutes across all competitions (D3, L2), and few would bet against another draw here given that all three of their FA Cup ties to get them this far went to extra-time. Stalemates have been common practice at the London Stadium too, where five of West Ham’s last six matches ended all square inside 90 minutes (W1), although they have at least progressed from four of their last five FA Cup ties on this ground.

It’s almost 40 years since Leeds United last reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup, so Daniel Farke’s side stand on the brink of history. One win from eight games inside 90 minutes (D5, L2) is hardly the kind of form expected of a side destined for cup glory, and as the Yorkshire side have only beaten Championship opposition to get this far, there are still huge question marks over their credentials. That rings especially true when honing in on their away form, with the Whites winning just once across their last 14 away games inside regulation time (D8, L5), and with the last five such matches ending level, everything points towards a closely-fought contest here.

West Ham United haven’t won any of their last seven FA Cup games inside 90 minutes (D4, L3). None of Leeds’ last five games saw both teams score. Leeds United have won their last four Sunday-held FA Cup games.

West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes netted at Elland Road earlier this season, with only one of his last six goals in English football arriving before the 40th minute. Brenden Aaronson was also on target when these sides met back in October, with his strike in that game contributing to his last six scoring appearances seeing him break the deadlock.

Former Leeds United man Crysencio Summerville faces a race against time to feature for West Ham United here, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in a similar boat for Leeds after picking up an injury with England.
