A record-equalling 186th top-flight meeting between Inter Milan and Roma on Easter Sunday could be a crucial clash in both the title and top-four races. None of the last 11 H2Hs ended level, with Inter claiming nine victories, including a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture. Roma’s two successes have come on this ground, including in last season’s corresponding fixture (1-0). Inter have netted a pre-round league-high 13 goals beyond the 80th minute this term.

The international break came at a good time for Inter, who failed to win any of their last four competitive matches (D3, L1), three of which came in Serie A (D2, L1), consequently seeing their lead at the summit shrink to six points. Not since April 2023 have they failed to win four consecutive Serie A matches, and as the Nerazzurri have netted just three times across their last four competitive outings, it’s clear their main issue lies in attack. Boss Cristian Chivu will be glad of a San Siro return to try and fix those problems, as Inter have won ten of their last 13 home league games (D2, L1).

After a five-game winless run in all competitions of their own (D2, L3), Roma signed off for the international break with a crucial 1-0 win against Lecce to keep themselves in top four contention. The Giallorossi start this round just three points adrift, but to have any chance of cutting that gap, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men will likely need to secure their first set of successive league games since mid-January. That looks a tall order considering that Gasperini has lost a career-high 18 Serie A H2Hs against Inter (W5, D9), and Roma have lost three of their last four away league matches (D1).

Inter scored over 1.5 goals in a league-high 11 of their 15 home games this season. Only ten of Roma’s 30 league games this season saw both teams score. Roma have kept a league-high 23 first-half clean sheets this season.

Marcus Thuram has two goals in three Serie A H2Hs, while six of his seven league goals this season have extended Inter’s lead to nil. Donyell Malen could precede him on the scoresheet as his three away scoring appearances in Serie A for Roma saw him net the match opener.

Carlos Augusto is suspended for Inter and Yann Bisseck is injured, but Lautaro Martínez could return. Manu Koné missed Roma’s last match, while Wesley França was injured on international duty.
