Nine-time Coppa Italia winners Inter Milan will look to reach their sixth semi-final in the last seven editions of this competition when they play Torino at the U-Power Stadium in Monza instead of San Siro. Inter have won the last seven H2Hs, with six of those being accompanied by a clean sheet, including a 5-0 win in Serie A this season. Inter scored nine of their last ten goals after the 30th minute.

Inter won 2-0 at Cremonese on Sunday for a tenth win in their last 11 league matches (D1) to strengthen their grip on top spot in Serie A. After losing in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-finals in December, the Nerazzurri will see the Coppa Italia as another opportunity for silverware, and their comfortable lead in the race for the Scudetto could allow them to focus more of their attention elsewhere. Cristian Chivu’s men have certainly gained momentum from eight victories in their last ten competitive games (D1, L1), but they will play here without home advantage due to the Winter Olympics, and having drawn on two of their last three visits to the U-Power Stadium (W1), Inter will be hoping for better on Wednesday.

Torino bounced back from consecutive defeats to beat Lecce 1-0 on Sunday and move nine points above the Serie A relegation zone, although a lack of consistency has been their undoing this season, having won successive matches just twice this term. A 3-2 victory at Roma in the previous round of the Coppa Italia shows that Marco Baroni’s side are no pushovers, but the Maroons could now experience a mental block, as they have not progressed to the semi-finals since the 1993/94 edition. There is a silver lining in being on the road, as they have won three of their last five such competitive games (L2), but both losses in that spell have come without scoring.

Five of Inter’s last six wins were accompanied by a clean sheet. Only three of Torino’s last ten games saw both teams score. None of Torino’s last 12 Coppa Italia games went to penalties (W8, L4).

Marcus Thuram’s last eight goals have given Inter the lead or extended it, including a brace against Venezia in the previous round of the Coppa Italia. Nikola Vlašić assisted Torino’s winner last weekend, while five of his six goals for the club this season have opened the scoring, including against Modena in the first round of this competition.

Neither side seem to have any fresh absentees.
