Coppa Italia holders Bologna host seven-time winners Lazio in Wednesday’s quarter-final in a game that will offer both sides a welcome distraction from their largely forgettable league campaigns. Bologna are unbeaten at home against Lazio across the last six H2Hs (W4, D2), winning four of the last five, while only one of the last 15 competitive H2Hs at any venue has been won by the away side on the day. Lazio have averaged two bookings per game across their last five matches.
Bologna come into this last-eight Coppa Italia tie on a run of poor form across all competitions (W2, D3, L7) which began with a 2-0 defeat to Napoli in the Supercoppa Italiana final just before Christmas. The Red and Blues conceded in the 95th minute as they went down 1-0 on Sunday at home against Parma in the Derby dell’Emilia, the second week in a row that they have failed to score and a result which extended their winless streak at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara to seven competitive matches (D2, L5). A clean sheet would be useful for Vincenzo Italiano’s side, something they produced at the same stage last season, but something they haven’t managed in their last 15 domestic fixtures.
The quarter-finals have been the stage where Lazio have been knocked out of five of the last six Coppa Italia editions, including 12 months ago when they were beaten 2-0 away at Inter Milan. The Eagles defeated AC Milan 1-0 in the last 16 at the start of December but have since become draw specialists, sharing the points in six of their last 11 matches (W3, L2), including on Sunday when they conceded in the 96th minute at Juventus. Although disappointed not to hold on, it is now five away games unbeaten for Maurizio Sarri’s side (W2, D3), who kept a clean sheet in three of those fixtures and will be targeting another one as they look to take a step closer to lifting the Coppa Italia for the sixth time this century.
Bologna have scored first in just one of their last ten home games across all competitions. Bologna’s last three competitive matches have seen only one team score on the day. Lazio haven’t conceded the first goal in any of their last five away fixtures.
Jonathan Rowe scored in the last round and Bologna have not lost either of their games in 2026 when he has found the net. All three of Pedro’s goals this season have come in 2026, including the opening strike in both of Lazio’s last two matches.
Charalampos Lykogiannis is a doubt for the hosts as are Oliver Provstgaard, Toma Bašić and Mario Gila for Lazio.
