West Ham and Brighton are both looking for their first league victories of December, so at least one of the two sides will carry a lengthy winless run into 2026 following this clash. Brighton have lost only once to West Ham since their promotion to the Premier League in 2017/18 (W7, D9, L1), while the Seagulls’ eight-match unbeaten record at the London Stadium (W2, D6) is their longest-ever unbeaten league run at an opponent’s stadium in their entire history. West Ham have conceded a joint-league high 13 second-half home goals this campaign.

West Ham are now seven Premier League matches without a victory (D3, L4) after their 1-0 defeat against Fulham on Saturday, with a five-point gap to safety looking increasingly difficult to overhaul. New boss Nuno Espírito Santo has already lost seven of his 13 games in charge (W2, D4), as his appointment hasn’t yet had the desired effect. His fortunes are unlikely to improve much at home, where the Hammers have lost three consecutive league games, making up just over a quarter of the 11 such defeats West Ham have suffered in 2025. Never in history have West Ham lost 12 home league games in a single calendar year before, and suffering such an ignominy could prove to be Nuno’s undoing as he is facing growing calls from West Ham fans to be sacked already.

Brighton were flying high in fifth spot at the end of November only to plummet into the bottom half of the table with five consecutive winless league games (D2, L3) following their loss to Arsenal at the weekend. Seagulls fans will be quick to point out that four of those matches came against sides pushing for Europe, so this fixture represents a much more winnable proposition on paper as they look to sign off for 2025 on a high note. Signing off for the year with a win isn’t something the Seagulls are accustomed to doing though, having won their final league game of a calendar year just once in the five preceding years (D2, L2).

Six of West Ham’s nine home games this Premier League season produced over 2.5 goals. Brighton have opened the scoring in only six Premier League games this term. Brighton have scored nine of their ten away league goals this season after half-time.

Jarrod Bowen has recorded West Ham’s first goal on a team-best four occasions this league season, one of which came in the reverse H2H. Georginio Rutter’s last league goal was an equaliser in that fixture – four of his last five Brighton goals arrived after half-time.

West Ham duo El Hadji Malick Diouf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka remain on international duty, as does Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.
