Throwing away a 1-0 lead in the dying moments at ten-man Las Palmas was a kick in the teeth for Osasuna, who head into the weekend stranded in La Liga’s mid-table. That late sucker punch means they are now without a top-flight win in nine games (D6, L3) – their worst such run since January 2022 (D5, L5).

The fact that Real Sociedad are Osasuna’s next opponents are unlikely to improve the darkening mood at El Sadar, as Los Rojillos have not won any of the last nine home H2Hs (D3, L6). A sobering 3-0 loss to Getafe last time out in the league dropped La Real out of the top-eight altogether, so they’ve got ground to make up to the European places.

Sociedad have at least fared slightly better away from home in the league this season, boasting the division’s best travelling defensive record (GA: 5). Neutrals hoping for scintillating attacking football from Imanol Aguacil’s side may be left disappointed though, as they have scored only seven times across those ten games, losing three of the last four without scoring.

Players to watch: Aimar Oroz has already scored twice in 2025 – as many as he managed in the whole of last year – six of his last seven club goals came between the 40th and 60th minute. Following a slow start to life at Sociedad, Orri Óskarsson may have turned a corner after scoring a brace against PAOK in midweek, though the only one of his five goals for the club to come on the road arrived in a defeat.
