Inter Milan have little time to brood over Tuesday’s loss in Europe when they host relegation-threatened Pisa, who have frustrated teams on their travels in Serie A. Inter needed a Lautaro Martínez brace beyond the hour mark to win the reverse fixture 2-0 in November. That was the first competitive H2H since 1991 and made it six top-flight H2H wins in a row. Inter have scored a league-high six unanswered goals within the first ten minutes of action this season.

Inter’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday complicated their chances of a top-eight finish in the UEFA Champions League, but their domestic league form remains impressive. A 1-0 win over Udinese last matchday was the Nerazzurri’s eighth win across nine league games (D1), keeping them three points ahead of AC Milan in the Scudetto race. A return to Serie A action is also likely to bring the best out of Cristian Chivu’s men defensively, as they have kept a league-high 11 clean sheets this season. Five of those came at the San Siro, and although the hosts have conceded in three of their last five home league games (W3, D1, L1), all those came against current top-eight sides.

Pisa battled to a 1-1 draw against Atalanta last Friday to earn a league-high 11th draw of this season. The visitors are still sitting in the relegation zone with no wins from their last ten league games (D5, L5), although a three-point deficit to the safety zone is still bridgeable. Goals have been in short supply for Alberto Gilardino’s side this season, but 14 of their 16 league goals have come on the road, fuelled by a creditable run of scoring exactly twice in five of their last seven league trips (D6, L1), including in a 2-2 draw against AC Milan at this venue in October.

Inter have earned a league-high 6.90 corners per game in this campaign. Eight of Pisa’s last ten away Serie A games saw both teams score. Pisa have drawn five of the six league games in which they scored first this season (W1).

Inter’s Federico Dimarco could look for an early impact as four of his last five Serie A goals served as the match opener. Simone Scuffet could be a busy man in the Pisa goal as he has conceded 12 goals across his last four personal H2Hs.

Both teams reportedly have no new injuries, while Pisa welcome back Antonio Caracciolo from suspension.
