Como and Inter Milan, two sides enjoying excellent league campaigns, meet in the first leg of this Coppa Italia semi-final each hoping to gain the upper hand in the tie. Inter have won each of the last six H2Hs, the last five of those without conceding, and have won each of the last five away meetings whilst scoring exactly twice. Como’s four Coppa Italia fixtures this term produced an average of 2.5 first-half goals per game.

Not since 1986 have Como reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals, and they had lost their previous six games in the competition before embarking on this season’s impressive run to the last four. Südtirol, Sassuolo and Fiorentina were all dispatched with the Lariani scoring three goals in each of those matches before they needed penalties to see off Napoli in the quarter-finals. They continued that good goalscoring form on Saturday to beat Lecce 3-1 in Serie A and maintain a solid sequence of losing just one of their last nine competitive fixtures (W6, D2), although losing two of their last five home games (W2, D1) may be a slight concern for Cesc Fàbregas’ men.

Inter Milan needed a response on Saturday to being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Bodø/Glimt in midweek, and they got one by beating Genoa 2-0 to maintain their healthy advantage at the top of Serie A. The nine-time Coppa Italia winners have eased into the last four by beating Venezia and Torino, but will be wary of taking anything for granted following their exit at this stage last term at the hands of rivals AC Milan. The Nerazzurri are tough to beat on the road, going unbeaten across their last six away games in this competition, although with all six of those ending level inside 90 minutes, nothing seems likely to be decided in this first leg.

Four of Como’s last five home games produced over 2.5 goals. Inter have scored 2+ goals in eight of their last ten competitive games. Inter have won seven of their last eight away matches without conceding.

Como’s Anastasios Douvikas has two goal contributions across his last two appearances (G1, A1), with four of his last six competitive goals arriving after the hour mark. Federico Dimarco netted for Inter against Genoa having also registered eight assists across his last eight outings.

Jayden Addai and Martin Baturina are unlikely to feature for Como, while Lautaro Martínez remains sidelined for Inter.
