Beginning this round of games just a point above the bottom three, Cagliari find themselves embroiled in Serie A’s relegation battle for the second successive season. The Eagles sit fourth in Serie A pre-round, and with the top three pulling clear already, their focus will be on cementing that final UEFA Champions League spot.

Three points here would certainly help that cause, and if boss Baroni is looking for a positive omen, they certainly have history on their side. Having won each of their last five away league games against Cagliari, Lazio are unbeaten in the last 19 Serie A H2Hs overall (W16, D3), and if they avoid a loss here, they will set a new club-record for the longest run without defeat against a single opponent in Serie A.

Players to watch: Three of Roberto Piccoli’s five league goals this season have come on or beyond the 75th minute. Mario Gila has already served a suspension this season, with three of his five cautions received before half-time – he was also shown a yellow card on Thursday night.

Hot stat: 14 of Lazio’s 22 league games this season saw both teams score – the joint-second highest tally in the division pre-round.
