After back-to-back Serie A victories, Juventus are back in the top four, but their credentials will be tested against a Lazio side who beat them in the reverse H2H. The home side on the day has won nine of the last ten H2Hs (JUV: W5, D1, L4), whilst the previous four league H2Hs produced only five goals combined. Lazio won the reverse fixture 1-0 and could secure a league double over Juventus for the first time since 1942/43. Juventus are the only Serie A side yet to concede at home inside the opening 15 minutes of both halves.

A dominant 4-1 victory over Parma in Juventus’ last Serie A outing served as a second successive victory by a 3+ goal margin as they begin to hit their stride in the race for the top four. A defeat by such a margin in midweek Coppa Italia action against Atalanta (3-0) served as a swift reality check for the Bianconeri, but with one less competition to focus on for the rest of the season, their league campaign now takes on added significance. That Atalanta defeat was only their third in 21 matches under Luciano Spalletti, and adding another seems unlikely considering that Juve are one of only two sides yet to lose a home game in Serie A this season (W7, D4).

Despite playing in front of an almost completely empty stadium in protest against their owner, a 100th-minute penalty helped Lazio beat Genoa 3-2 last week. That was the first time Lazio had scored more than two goals in a competitive match since early October and was enough to see Maurizio Sarri’s men climb up to eighth, but having started this round with a nine-point deficit to top-six places, their European participation next season still looks improbable. Hitting the road could help change their fortunes, as Lazio are unbeaten in four away league matches (W2, D2), keeping a clean sheet in three of those outings.

Only Inter (33) have scored more home league goals than Juventus (23) ahead of this round. Lazio have failed to score in a joint-league high seven away matches. Only one of Lazio’s 11 away league matches produced over 2.5 goals.

Juventus have won on nine of Weston McKennie’s last 11 scoring appearances for the club (D2), including their last victory over Parma. Lazio’s January acquisition Kenneth Taylor scored his first goal for the club against Genoa and has netted five of his last nine club strikes after the hour mark.

Juventus appear to have no fresh injury concerns, while Lazio’s Luca Pellegrini is suspended here.
