Shifting Kylian Mbappé to the left seemed to revitalise Real Madrid last weekend against Leganés (W 3-0), but he and they were far less effective in UEFA Champions League action against Liverpool on Wednesday (L 2-0), as Carlo Ancelotti’s men head into this round of La Liga fixtures four points behind leaders and rivals Barcelona, albeit with a game in hand.

Eduardo Camavinga limped off against Liverpool following the news that Vinícius Júnior will spend some time on the sidelines, and with Real Madrid still having to field a makeshift defence due to absences, their squad depth will be tested again as they host Getafe. Their terrible recent H2H record on the road also counts against them, while Bordalás himself has lost all five managerial H2Hs against opposite number Ancelotti and 11 of his 13 matches in the dugout against Real Madrid (D2).

Players to watch: Jude Bellingham scored a late winner in last season’s corresponding encounter and got off the mark this term against Osasuna in Real Madrid’s last home outing – both goals were his side’s second of the match. It took Allan Nyom 233 La Liga appearances to do what he did in Getafe’s last game, scoring and assisting in the same fixture, while he has also picked up two yellow cards in his last four matches.
