A potentially pivotal clash in the race for Premier League survival sees 17th-placed Nottingham Forest look to strengthen their claim by piling more misery upon bottom-of-the-table Wolves. Forest are winless in each of the last nine competitive home H2Hs (D5, L4), though each of the last four ended level. Forest have conceded first in 17 of their 25 league games (W2, D2, L13).

A chastening 3-1 loss against Leeds on Friday saw Nottingham Forest’s four-game unbeaten run end and left them right back in the relegation dogfight. Ending the weekend just three points above the drop zone, Forest are sitting rather uncomfortably with a resurgent West Ham creeping up on them, with the Hammers themselves beating Forest 3-0 on this ground back in August when they sat bottom of the table. Everton in 2022/23 were the last team to lose at home to two different 20th-placed sides in a Premier League campaign, but a four-match winless home league run (D2, L2) suggests it’s a feat Forest could possibly fall to here.

Any chances of Wolves producing the greatest escape act in Premier League history are dwindling with each passing gameweek, with Rob Edwards’ side losing three league games in a row by a two-goal margin. Just eight points from 25 rounds not only represents the worst Premier League return ever, but also the Old Gold’s own worst league record in club history as they stare down the barrel of relegation. Playing away will hardly provide any respite, with Wolves currently enduring a 14-game wait for a travelling league win (D3, L11) and are on course to match their fateful 2003/04 relegation campaign which saw them fail to win a single Premier League road trip.

Forest haven’t drawn any of their last five midweek Premier League games (W3, L2). Wolves are winless in each of their last six midweek Premier League matches (D3, L3). Wolves have failed to win three of their four league games when scoring the opener (D2, L1).

Lorenzo Lucca scored on his Forest debut against Leeds, with that consolation strike meaning he has gone on to lose in three of his last four scoring league appearances. Adam Armstrong also enjoyed a fruitful debut, assisting in Wolves’ weekend defeat, but this game may not be quite as positive given he’s lost a personal career-high nine games against Forest.

Neither side seem to have any fresh injury concerns.
