High-flying AC Milan are ready to take on undefeated Napoli after winning three consecutive Serie A matches and advancing in the Coppa Italia during the week. Napoli were triumphant in both H2Hs last season, winning 2-1 at home and 2-0 away. Milan hold the superior all-time H2H record (W70, D54, L53) but have won just one of their last eight Serie A games at home to Napoli (D3, L4). Milan kept a clean sheet in each of their last six competitive victories.

Suspended manager Massimiliano Allegri oversaw a third consecutive clean sheet victory from the stands in Udine last weekend, confirming Milan have firmly overcome their defeat in the opening round. It was the first time since February 2023 that Milan won three straight Serie A matches without conceding and now they’ll be hoping to record a run of four for the first time since 2020. This match against the reigning champions will be a huge test for the Rossoneri, who last season managed to win only one of the 14 matches against the seven clubs that finished above them in the table (D5, L8).

Napoli made it four wins from four to continue their perfect Serie A title defence after a hard-fought 3-2 victory against newcomers Pisa on Monday, recording four victories to open a new league season for the first time since 2021/22. Antonio Conte’s men still boast the longest current unbeaten league run (W11, D5) across Europe’s traditional top-five leagues, which includes four clean sheets in their last five away Serie A outings (W4, D1). They also boast excellent long-term form on the road, losing just one of their previous 20 away league matches (W12, D7), conceding a mere 12 goals during that period.

Five of Milan’s last six home competitive matches saw only the winning team score. Only two of Napoli’s last eight competitive away matches saw both teams score. Napoli kept a clean sheet in five of their last seven away league matches.

Christian Pulisic directly contributed to four goals across his last two matches (G3, A1), with Milan winning each of his last eight goalscoring outings in all competitions – eight of his ten goals during that run arrived after the break. Lorenzo Lucca scored his first goal for Napoli in the last round, with eight of his last nine goalscoring league matches seeing both teams score.

Rafael Leão is still yet to make a Serie A appearance for Milan this season, while Alessandro Buongiorno will sit this one out for Napoli.
