Leicester City won’t have enjoyed the international break after losing 3-0 to Manchester United just beforehand and learning that they’ll be without Ricardo Pereira for four months due to injury. To make matters worse, pressure is mounting on manager Steve Cooper as winning none of their last three Premier League games (D1, L2) sees them sit just three points above the bottom three.

A lack of firepower has hurt Leicester City, who have scored exactly once in all five of their home league fixtures this season (W1, D2, L2) often showing a worrying inability to create or convert chances. And with forwards Jordan Ayew, Patson Daka and Jamie Vardy among those on the sidelines, that may not improve anytime soon.

Enzo Maresca left the King Power Stadium in the summer to take over the Chelsea hotseat and he has them sitting in an impressive third place at this stage (W5, D4, L2) following a couple of draws prior to the international break. He returns to his old haunt aiming to make it seven consecutive H2Hs without defeat for his new side (W5, D1), who scored 2+ goals in the last three of those games.

Chelsea have shown ruthlessness by scoring three times on each of their last two visits to Leicester (W2) and goals could continue to flow here given they’ve netted an average of 2.75 goals per game in league away fixtures against sides in the bottom half this term. As they scored first and went on to win the first three of those outings, Maresca might sit a little easier if his side gets ahead early on.

Players to watch: Stephy Mavididi netted for Leicester against Chelsea in March (L 4-2) but has been more likely to pick up a card of late, being booked in two of his last three appearances. After being on target for Portugal against Poland, Chelsea’s Pedro Neto has now scored in two consecutive games, with both goals arriving after the 65th minute.
