Despite being held to a 1-1 away draw against Roma, Juventus’ new manager Igor Tudor believes his side is making progress under his stewardship as he remains unbeaten on their bench (W1, D1), keeping their bid for a UEFA Champions League (UCL) place alive. Improving their offensive output could be the key to success here as Juventus have failed to score more than once in four consecutive Serie A matches (W1, D1, L2).

With their 1-0 home victory over Genoa in their last home outing, Juventus stretched their unbeaten run against teams that started this round outside the top-eight to 19 Serie A matches this season (W12, D7). Having also lost just once here this league season (W8, D7, L1), Juventus should be confident of continuing this run against Lecce, who they have beaten in seven of their last nine home meetings (D2).

Lecce missed the opportunity to end their now eight-game winless run (D3, L5) as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against bottom-three side Venezia last weekend. Marco Giampaolo’s men at least ended their worrying five-game losing streak and maintained their two-point distance from the relegation places ahead of this weekend.

With their league-low ten away goals scored this campaign, it is hardly surprising no team has registered more than Lecce’s ten losses on the road this Serie A season (W3, D2). Lecce have also not been able to win away to any team starting this round ranked higher than 16th-placed Parma (D1, L10), netting just three goals in those 11 matches.

Players to watch: After becoming captain under Tudor’s tenure, Manuel Locatelli scored his first league goal of the season against Roma, which incidentally was his first-ever scoring game not to end in victory (W13, D1). Defender Federico Baschirotto scored his first Serie A goal in more than two years last time out, with each of the last four being headers, while four of his last six competitive strikes opened the scoring.

Hot stat: Only Inter (22) have opened the scoring more often than Juventus (21) this Serie A season.
