Holstein Kiel, the lowest ranked team left in this season’s DFB-Pokal, take on in-form holders Stuttgart in Wednesday’s quarter-final. After winning three of the first four H2Hs (L1), including both of the 2. Bundesliga clashes in 2019/20, Kiel picked up only one point across the two top-flight meetings last season (D1, L1). Stuttgart have scored 3+ goals in five of their last eight away matches across all competitions.

A six-game unbeaten run across all competitions came to an end on Sunday for Holstein Kiel who lost 2-1 at home to bottom of the table Greuther Fürth. The defeat was only the second time since the start of September that the Storks have been turned over at home, leaving them with just a four-point gap to the relegation zone in 2. Bundesliga. The Swabians have also been impressive on the road, winning five of their last seven such games across all competitions (L2), while all three of their DFB-Pokal successes during this run to the quarter-finals have been in away fixtures.

Kiel have kept a first half clean sheet in each of their last three games. Kiel have picked up at least one booking by the 27th minute in all three of their DFB-Pokal fixtures this season. Three of Stuttgart’s last four competitive fixtures saw only one team score on the day.

Steven Skrzybski has five goal contributions across his five competitive H2Hs against Stuttgart, including scoring both of Kiel’s goals in the last meeting at the Holstein-Stadion. Deniz Undav has contributed to a goal in each of Stuttgart’s last three games (G1, A2) across all competitions and in both previous rounds of this competition (G1, A1).
