Brighton Hove Albion will be hoping for more home joy against Tottenham Hotspur when Thomas Frank’s side head to the Amex Stadium on Saturday. Brighton Hove Albion completed a double over Tottenham last season, also marking their first-ever back-to-back league wins over Spurs. The Seagulls are looking to win a third consecutive home game against Tottenham Hotspur for the first time here. Brighton Hove Albion have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 Premier League games.
Brighton Hove Albion were brought back down to earth last weekend after a 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth, which followed an impressive win by the same scoreline against Manchester City at the Amex. An underwhelming haul of four points from their opening four Premier League games is their worst return at this stage since the 2020/21 campaign when the Seagulls finished 16th, so Fabian Hürzeler may be starting to feel pressure. That rings especially true given that their next Premier League outing comes away at Chelsea, so the importance of a positive result here cannot be underestimated.
Thomas Frank has won four of his opening six matches in charge (L2) of Tottenham Hotspur, including a 1-0 win over Villarreal in their UEFA Champions League opener on Tuesday. While it was far from a convincing display, Frank was keen to praise his side’s “strong foundation” which was so sorely missing in last term’s disastrous domestic campaign. There is subsequently genuine belief that the north Londoners can re-establish themselves amongst England’s elite this season, with that optimism heightened by their fine recent away form, winning both away league games so far this season by an aggregate score of 5-0.
Brighton Hove Albion have lost just one of their last ten home Premier League matches (W6, D3). There have been over 1.5 goals in 11 of Tottenham Hotspur’s previous 12 Premier League away games. The half-time result has been replicated at full-time in nine of Tottenham’s last 12 league games.
Yankuba Minteh scored for Brighton Hove Albion in last season’s corresponding fixture, and the Seagulls are unbeaten in all six matches he’s netted in (W4, D2). Xavi Simons has eight goal involvements in his last ten league appearances (G4, A4) after claiming an assist in Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-0 win over West Ham.
Brighton Hove Albion duo Jack Hinshelwood and Maxim De Cuyper both went off injured early against Bournemouth, while Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke sat out the win against Villarreal alongside long-term absentees James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
