Mid-table Brighton are looking to lift themselves out of a slump in Premier League form, while Everton arrive hoping to close the gap on the European places. A 3-0 away win in August 2024 is Brighton’s only victory over Everton in the last six H2Hs (D2, L3), while they’ve not won this fixture at home since 2019 (D2, L3). Only Burnley (68) and Wolves (70) have had fewer shots on target than Everton this Premier League season (72).
Brighton are slowly being cut adrift in the middle of the Premier League table after a poor run of just one win from their past ten league games (D5, L4). The Seagulls conceded decisively in the 92nd minute as they were beaten 2-1 at Fulham last week, with some fans starting to question manager Fabian Hürzeler, and little wonder as only the Wolves and Burnley have picked up fewer than their eight points since the start of December. Sitting just six points shy of the top six pre-round, Brighton remain in European contention despite that run, and will look to close in on home turf where they’ve been beaten just once since early April (W7, D7).
Everton missed a big opportunity to cut the gap to the European spots after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds at home on Monday (1-1). The result at least kept the Toffees inside the top ten and extended their recent run to just one loss in six league games (W2, D3), and David Moyes’ men look better suited to getting back to winning ways here given their fine form on the road. In only two Premier League campaigns have Everton won more away matches at this stage than the five they’ve managed so far (D2, L4), with two of those wins coming in their two most recent trips to Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.
Brighton have trailed a league-high 12 games at half-time this season. Each of Brighton’s last four home league games have produced under 2.5 goals. Everton have kept five clean sheets in their last six away league games.
Brighton’s Danny Welbeck has only been involved in more Premier League goals against West Ham (11) than he has against Everton (G5, A5). Since scoring his first Premier League goal in December against Forest, only one Premier League player has scored more than Everton’s Thierno Barry (five).
Neither side are reporting any fresh injury issues ahead of the contest.
