Rennes’ poor recent results have led to a change in management ahead of a tough fixture against a Paris Saint-Germain side arriving in irresistible form. PSG have won each of the last four H2Hs, scoring 3+ goals in each of the last three of those games, although Rennes have won three of the last six meetings they hosted (D1, L2). Each of Rennes’ last six league fixtures produced an even number of goals.
Following their 3-1 defeat to Lens on Saturday, Rennes sacked manager Habib Beye, under whose control they had lost four competitive games in a row for the first time since January 2025 and gone winless across their last four in Ligue 1 (D1, L3). Franck Haise is being strongly tipped to take over with the Red and Blacks inside the top six and targeting European qualification despite their recent poor form. His time with the club’s academy between 2006 and 2012 ought to help him settle in quickly if he’s appointed, but a home game should help the Brittany-based club here regardless of who’s in charge as they have only lost one of their last five home league matches (W3, D1).
PSG have won each of their last seven Ligue 1 games, a run started by a dominant 5-0 victory at home to Rennes in December, while they beat Marseille by the same scoreline in a one-sided Classique on Sunday. The Parisians have won the last four Ligue 1 editions at something of a canter, but the defending champions are being pushed hard this time around and only lead Lens by two points at the top of the table. There’s no margin for error here then, so it’s just as well PSG head west on the back of three successive away league wins, but considering each was achieved by a one-goal margin, and two required late strikes to seal the points, this could be a close-fought contest.
Rennes have conceded a league-high four home goals in the opening 15 minutes in this term. PSG have a 100% record in Ligue 1 this term when leading at half-time (W11). PSG scored exactly once after half-time in each of their last three away league games.
Breel Embolo was the last Rennes player to score at Roazhon Park, but he’s also picked up bookings in each of their last three competitive games, two of them before half-time. Ousmane Dembélé, who started his career at Rennes, scored twice and assisted once for PSG against Marseille and has netted three of his last five goals in the opening 15 minutes.
Rennes’ Jérémy Jacquet suffered an injury during their defeat to Lens, while PSG’s Fabián Ruiz and Quentin Ndjantou are also sidelined.
