The Parisian derby returns for the first time since 1978 as 13-time French champions PSG welcome their newly-promoted neighbours Paris FC, whose 30 metre journey here makes this the closest derby in world football. These inter-city rivals have met in just two prior competitive fixtures when they played out a pair of draws in the 1978/79 campaign. That tally will double in this month alone as PSG will meet Paris here in both league and cup across their next three fixtures.

Surprisingly spending the festive period in second place, PSG now return to league action after victories in the Intercontinental Cup and the Coupe de France took their unbeaten streak to five (W4, D1). Still fighting on multiple fronts, snatching top spot from Lens will be high on PSG’s list of priorities, so they’ll be hoping for better performances than they delivered against the other two promoted teams which saw them concede three times overall (W1, D1). Returning home should provide a welcome boost as ten of PSG’s 12 dropped points this season came away, with six of their seven league games here ending in wins to nil (D1).

Making the stone’s throw journey to the Parc Des Princes, Paris FC have had to look on from afar at their neighbours’ success since the 1970s after swapping the top flight for a decades-long exile to the second tier. Wins have been hard to come by recently, with Monaco the only side they’ve beaten across their last nine league games (D3, L5). The odds are stacked against the visitors here with absent players at the Africa Cup of Nations accounting for 12 of their 21 league goals, while Paris have a 100% losing record away to top-four sides (L3).

PSG have scored a league-high 16 goals before half-time this season. PSG have scored the opener in 14 of their 16 league games this season. Just two of Paris FC’s last seven matches saw both teams score. Only two sides had conceded the opening goal more often than Paris (ten) in Ligue 1 pre-round.

Gonçalo Ramos has scored four goals across his last four appearances for PSG and he often provides late impact, with eight of his nine strikes this season coming after half-time. Formerly of PSG, Paris’ Jonathan Ikoné scored his first goals for the club with a hat-trick in the Coupe de France, he has also made three assists in ten career meetings against his former club (W3, D1, L6).

PSG’s Lee Kang-in missed their last game of 2025, while keeper Matvey Safonov is out with a broken hand. Paris don’t appear to have any fresh injury concerns.
