Managerless Marseille welcome Strasbourg to the Stade Vélodrome with both sides in desperate need of a win to reignite their respective Ligue 1 ambitions. Marseille haven’t lost any of their 20 home games against Strasbourg in all competitions (W11, D9), although the last three have ended level. Strasbourg have conceded more Ligue 1 goals against Marseille than against any other opponent (171).
Roberto De Zerbi and Marseille parted ways by mutual consent during the week, leaving Marseille managerless and their season in disarray. Exiting the UEFA Champions League and dropping out of Ligue 1’s top-three across the last few weeks, the 5-0 thrashing they fell to in Le Classique against PSG last weekend proved to be the final straw in a strained relationship between manager and board. The Phocaeans’ next game coming at home should help the new era begin on a positive note considering they’ve lost just one of their last 15 home matches in domestic action (W12, D2).
Strasbourg’s bright start under Gary O’Neil has firmly come to an end, as either side of an encouraging 3-1 win over Monaco in the Coupe de France sit a pair of 2-1 defeats to PSG and Le Havre in Ligue 1. Those reversals mean the Blue and Whites have now lost six of their last 11 Ligue 1 matches (W3, D2), as many as in their previous 31 games in the competition combined (W19, D6). Things certainly aren’t guaranteed to get much better on the road, where Strasbourg have won just one of their last eight away league games (D2, L5), but a nine-game scoring streak on the road at least shows they can be dangerous in attack.
Marseille have seen a pre-round league-high 14 matches this season produce over 2.5 goals. Seven of Marseille’s last eight home matches saw goals scored in both halves. Eight of Strasbourg’s last nine matches saw both teams score. Strasbourg have scored a first-half goal in each of their last five away matches.
Marseille may rely on teenager Ethan Nwaneri to help them get back to winning ways, since his ten goalscoring appearances at senior club level resulted in nine wins (D1). Strasbourg’s Martial Godo is in scintillating form with six goals in his last six games, four of which came away from home – no African player in Europe’s top-five leagues has scored more goals in all competitions in 2026 than him.
Marseille have a clean bill of health, while Strasbourg will be without Ismaël Doukouré after his red card last time out.
