Levante and Real Madrid may have very different targets for the season but both are in buoyant mood having completed dominant victories without conceding on matchday five. Levante have challenged Madrid over the years, winning three of the last eight meetings (D1, L4), but they’ve often performed better away from home, winning just one of the last nine H2Hs they hosted (D2, L6). Real Madrid have scored 2+ goals in each of their last four La Liga road games (W3, L1).
Levante’s first La Liga win of the season was as emphatic as they come when they thrashed Girona 4-0 away from home on Saturday, raising hopes that their return to the top flight won’t simply be a season-long fight for survival (W1, D1, L3). That was their biggest La Liga win since beating Betis 4-0 in April 2019 so the Granotas should be feeling positive as they look to build on that impressive triumph and claim a first home league win of the season having already drawn 2-2 with Real Betis and run Barcelona close here (L 3-2).
But given how comfortably their visitors dispatched Espanyol on Saturday afternoon (W 2-0), Levante won’t be getting ahead of themselves, especially as Real Madrid managed to introduce fit-again Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga from the bench late on. Both could feature more prominently here as manager Xabi Alonso continues to rotate his squad, with Los Blancos aiming to start their La Liga campaign with six consecutive wins for just the second time since the 1987/88 season. Doing so would also see them secure four straight league away victories, something they haven’t achieved since a run that finished in May 2024.
Levante’s league games this term have produced an average of 3.6 goals per game. Levante are yet to concede a La Liga goal before the 30th minute this season. Real Madrid have won fewer than eight corners in four of their five league games this season.
Levante’s Etta Eyong has scored three times before half-time in La Liga this term, with two of those being headers which opened the scoring. Federico Valverde could provide the creative spark to unlock Levante’s defence, having assisted in two of his last three league appearances for Real Madrid.
Levante have no new injury concerns, while the news is mostly positive for Real Madrid as Endrick is fit and could feature, plus Dean Huijsen returns after serving his one-game suspension. Defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ferland Mendy and Antonio Rüdiger remain sidelined.
