The pressure is mounting on both Bournemouth and Tottenham after their lengthy runs of poor form continued at the weekend. Bournemouth are unbeaten in the last three H2Hs (W2, D1), which includes this season’s reverse fixture in August. A win on Wednesday would complete a first-ever league double over Spurs. Tottenham have won all five of their away league games this season when scoring first.

Bournemouth are now on their longest winless run under Andoni Iraola (D5, L6) after losing 3-2 at home to Arsenal, but there’s little dismissal chat surrounding the Spaniard who has had to deal with more than £200m of sales in the summer. Iraola’s side have not been short of firepower in the final third though, scoring 2+ goals in five of their last nine Premier League matches (D5, L4), but continue to lament what was by far the worst defensive return (GA 38) of any club outside the relegation zone after 20 rounds. Only nine of those 38 goals were conceded on home turf, suggesting they can be capable of a better showing against bottom-half opposition here.

Tottenham have struggled to find their scoring boots in recent weeks, as a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland saw them record five consecutive Premier League matches with one or no goals to their name. Spurs have won just one of those five fixtures (D2, L2) and start this round in 13th, but are only four points behind the top six. That will be of some relief to under-fire head coach Thomas Frank, especially given their next two away trips see them visit fellow clubs sitting in the bottom half after 20 rounds. They have an excellent away record against those sides, winning four of their last five such games (W4, L1).

Eleven of Bournemouth’s last 15 league games produced over 2.5 goals. Six of Bournemouth’s last eight home league fixtures were level at half-time. Tottenham led at half-time in five of their seven Premier League wins this season.

Evanilson was one of Bournemouth’s two scorers against Arsenal and is primed to back it up after scoring in each of the last two H2Hs. Midfielder Mathys Tel could be a candidate to strike for Tottenham, with nine of his last 11 goals for any club coming away from home.

Bournemouth appear to have no new absentees, while Tottenham’s Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert were both forced off injured against Sunderland.
