Robert Lewandowski scored a brace to become the third player to score 100 goals in the Champions League as Barcelona defeated Brest 3-0 on Tuesday. That result ended a two-game winless run (D1, L1) in domestic action prior, but despite that, Barca still boast a four-point lead at the top ahead of this round. The Catalans should be confident of stretching that to seven, temporally at least, with a win against Las Palmas, a team that hasn’t beaten Barça in the top flight since February 1986.

That initial poor start was complemented by four consecutive away defeats, but their fortunes on the road seem to have taken a turn for good. Three wins over their last four trips (L1) indicate the Canary Islanders won’t be pushovers, whilst late action seems to be a part of their package as their last four away league games have seen at least one goal scored beyond the 80th minute.

Players to watch: Dani Olmo scored Barcelona’s second goal in the win over Brest, which meant four of his last five goals have come at this venue, each time giving or extending their lead ‘to nil.’ Jaime Mata will look to puncture those hopes, as his only career H2H goal came in a 1-0 win for his team back in the 2020/21 campaign, but the Las Palmas forward will have to tread with caution as his lone career top-flight red card came against Barcelona.
