Legendary former Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini makes his first return to Bergamo when he brings his title-chasing Roma side to town. Roma’s league double over Atalanta in the 2021/22 season serves as their only two victories over La Dea in the last 15 H2Hs (D4, L9). The half-time result has been replicated come full-time in 13 of Atalanta’s 17 Serie A games this season.

That’s despite losing three of their last four away league matches (W1), with each defeat coming by a one-goal margin.

There have been over 2.5 goals in four of Atalanta’s last six home matches. The team scoring first has won 16 of Roma’s 17 league games this term. Just two of Roma’s last seven away games saw both teams score.

Atalanta captain Marten de Roon has scored a career-high three times against Roma, all of which came in wins albeit they all came on the road. Opposite number Bryan Cristante has returned the favour by scoring three goals against Atalanta, and usually has an important say in matters since five of his last seven goals have served as the game’s last.

Atalanta seem to have come through their last encounter with no fresh injury concerns, while Roma saw Matías Soulé limp off against Genoa in a game that both Leon Bailey and Lorenzo Pellegrini missed.
