Union Berlin’s resurgence continues after the recent 2-2 draw against Heidenheim made it a return of 18 points from the past 11 Bundesliga rounds (W5, D3, L3), a stark contrast to the solitary point they accrued from the ten games prior to that streak. This uptick is largely down to the introduction of Croatian boss Nenad Bjelica, who was appointed at the beginning of that much-improved 11-league-game run.
Entering this round eight points clear of the bottom three and just four points away from the top half, the Berliners could be forgiven for thinking their relegation fears are a thing of the past.
