High-flying Borussia Dortmund will attempt to keep their good recent run going against Bayer Leverkusen, who desperately need a win in their quest for a place in the top four. Borussia Dortmund have an excellent league record against Bayer Leverkusen, losing only five of the last 22 H2Hs (W13, D4), including a 2-1 success in November. Only one Bundesliga team has been awarded more penalties than Borussia Dortmund’s nine this season.

It is now four wins in a row for Borussia Dortmund, who have all but sewn up second spot in the Bundesliga. The most recent of those was a 2-0 success against fellow top-four side Stuttgart last weekend, during which they registered a league-high 13th clean sheet for the campaign. Eight of those have come at Westfalenstadion, contributing to Niko Kovač’s men having the second-best home record in the division, notching up 11 wins from 14 attempts (D2, L1). That is already the same amount of victories that the club managed at home last season, and the Prussians should be confident of adding another here, as they have a near faultless record against teams outside the top five (W17, D4).

Things might not be so easy against visitors Bayer Leverkusen though, who scored 6+ goals in a game for the second time this season when hammering Wolfsburg 6-3 last time out. That ended a five-match winless run (D4, L1) across all competitions that has left Kasper Hjulmand’s men four points off a UEFA Champions League qualification spot with just six rounds remaining. They desperately need to register back-to-back Bundesliga successes for the first time since January to enhance those top-four prospects, but are worryingly on a run of one win in five on the road (D2, L2) and have managed just one success against teams who start this round in the top five this season (D1, L5).

Eight of Borussia Dortmund’s last 11 fixtures produced over 2.5 goals. Three of Bayer Leverkusen’s last four league outings featured over 5.5 goals. Bayer Leverkusen have scored a pre-round high nine goals in the opening 15 minutes of Bundesliga games this season.

Ahead of this round, only one player has registered more assists in the Bundesliga this season than Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson (12), while Álex Grimaldo has netted 14 goals for Bayer Leverkusen in 2025/26, nine of which have been free-kicks or penalties.

Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi will sit this one out due to a one-match ban. Jarell Quansah is a doubt for the visitors, while Martin Terrier has been ruled out for the season.
