A 0-0 draw at Getafe last weekend extended Sevilla’s unbeaten run to four games (W1, D3) – their longest this season! That keeps them firmly in mid-table in La Liga, although with only a four-point gap to the top six after matchday 22, European qualification is still just about within reach. Closing that gap will require an upset on Sunday against Barcelona, as Los Nervionenses are winless in their last 18 top-flight H2Hs (D4, L14) and could suffer their longest-ever sequence of defeats against them in the competition (six losses currently).

In contrast to their overall form, Sevilla have been steady without being spectacular at Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán this season. Only three league sides have left this venue with a win in that time (W5, D3), with all three draws ending 1-1 and seeing the home team fight back after conceding the opener.

Barcelona thrashed Valencia 5-0 on Thursday to go ten matches unbeaten in all competitions (W8, D2) and book their place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals. As part of that run, the Catalans have won their last two league encounters, after a four-game winless streak either side of the winter break (D2, L2) appeared to have derailed their title ambitions. And with La Liga’s top two clubs meeting in the Madrid derby this weekend, Barça have an opportunity to make up ground on at least one of those sides with a victory here.

The visitors are unbeaten in their last eight La Liga away H2H matches (W5, D3), giving them a chance to make it nine such games for the first time in the competition. That will be easier said than done though, as Barcelona look to improve on a run of only one win in their last five league outings on the road (D3, L1).

Players to watch: Dodi Lukébakio may step up for Sevilla against another top-three club as he’s done against the two Madrid giants with two of his last three goals. Pedri assisted Barcelona’s third goal in the Copa del Rey win over Valencia and has scored twice in his last five La Liga meetings with Sevilla, including the second goal in the reverse-fixture triumph (5-1).
