Newcastle United vs Brentford Full Match Highlights Replay.
After the high of lifting the Carabao Cup – their first major domestic honour in 70 years – and then celebrating it in style with the ‘Toon Army’ on the streets of Newcastle United this past weekend, Eddie Howe’s men need to refocus on the Premier League as they remain in hot pursuit of a top-four finish. They start the round two points shy of the top four, but with three defeats in their last five league matches (W2), their position is looking increasingly precarious.

Newcastle United did win their last league game, and should be confident of going back-to-back as they face Brentford, a team they are unbeaten against at St James’ Park in each of the previous six H2Hs (W5, D1). Having scored 3+ goals in four of the last five meetings here, Newcastle United should be confident of improving upon a dismal run of just one win from their last five Wednesday-held Premier League games (D1, L3).

Brentford also won their last Premier League outing, impressively beating Bournemouth 2-1 away from home to record a third victory in five outings (D1, L1). Thomas Frank’s men look set to enjoy a relaxing end to the campaign in the safety of mid-table, but a win here could propel them firmly into European contention with the Bees just six points shy of their hosts.

All of those three aforementioned recent wins came on the road where Brentford have been at their best in recent times. They have won five in succession on their league travels – the only side to do so this term – and another win here could make Frank’s men just the second team in Premier League history to win six straight away games while starting the round outside the top ten.

Players to watch: With nine Premier League goals at home and ten away this season, Alexander Isak could become just the third Newcastle United player to score ten or more goals both home and away in the same season in the competition. Fellow striker Yoane Wissa has scored in three of Brentford’s last four league games, including both of their last two on the road.

Hot stat: Brentford have scored from their first shot of a Premier League match a league-high nine times this season.
