Marseille host Paris FC at the Stade Vélodrome on Saturday as both sides look to bounce back from 1-0 defeats in the opening gameweek of Ligue 1. This will be the first meeting between the sides since L’OM won both second-tier H2Hs during the 1981/82 season. Paris FC have scored on only one of their four previous visits to Marseille (D2, L2) and have come out on top in just one of the eight H2Hs (D2, L5) at any venue. Marseille averaged four goals per game across their final four home fixtures in 2024/25.

After beginning their 2025/26 campaign with an away loss against a side who played with ten men for 60 minutes and finished 24 points behind them in May, Marseille will aim to claim their first points of the new season at home where they recorded four successive Ligue 1 victories to end last season. The fortress that was the Stade Vélodrome saw only one defeat in the league from December onwards (W9, D2) while providing Roberto De Zerbi’s side with seven wins from the final eight Ligue 1 home games (L1). After losing only five away games (W8, D4) in their Ligue 2 promotion campaign in 2024/25, head coach Stéphane Gilli should not be overawed by another trip, although this time against the league runners-up! They spent €45 million in the summer so they could go toe-to-toe with opponents in Ligue 1, albeit a trip to Marseille is likely to be a real test of their credentials.

Paris kept just one clean sheet across their nine away matches from mid-December onwards last season (W3, D2, L4). Paris opened the scoring in ten of their final 11 games (W8, D2, L1) in last season’s Ligue 2.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made 17 goal contributions (G12, A5) across his last 14 league matches at the Stade Vélodrome in the 2023/24 season. Pierre-Yves Hamel found the net in the second half in both of Paris’ final two away games in Ligue 2 last season.
