Manchester City vs Wydad Full Match Highlights Replay Club World Cup.
This meeting between Manchester City and Wydad AC sees the Club World Cup (CWC) winners of 2023 pitted against a side who have never won a game in this competition despite appearing twice before. Manchester City and Wydad are meeting for the first time in a competitive match. This will also be the first-ever CWC meeting between teams from England and Morocco. Manchester City are yet to concede a goal in the CWC, winning both of their two previous matches (3-0 v Urawa Red Diamonds, 4-0 v Fluminense).

Manchester City come into the tournament on the back of a disappointing domestic campaign, finishing third en route to losing their Premier League crown, in what was their first trophyless season since Pep Guardiola’s first campaign in charge in 2016/17. They did finish the season strongly though, losing only one of their final 13 competitive games of the campaign (W9, D3), so Guardiola’s men should arrive here full of confidence. They kick off their Club World Cup campaign much stronger too having just spent circa £100 million ahead of the tournament to recruit Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Aït-Nouri.

Wydad weren’t able to add to their Moroccan-record 22 Botola titles this season and, like their opponents, eventually finished third in the table. They did round off the campaign with three straight league wins, but any momentum from that might have been halted by winning just one of their next four pre-tournament matches, with two of those defeats coming against European sides (Porto, Sevilla) in friendlies. Wydad could well make that an unwanted hat-trick here, particularly having lost each of their three prior Club World Cup matches.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola won the previous format of the Club World Cup on four occasions – the joint-most of any manager. No side drew more matches in Morocco’s top tier than Wydad last season (12). Wydad have won four of their last five competitive matches (L1), scoring exactly twice in each victory.

Rayan Cherki could hit the ground running here after registering three goal contributions in his past three matches (G1, A2) for club and country. Wydad will be hoping Mohamed Rayhi can be their dangerman given he finished his side’s top league scorer (G11) – his last two goals served as game openers before the 20th minute.

While there are no new notable absentees for either side, Manchester City are boosted by the availability of Rodri who featured in just four competitive games in 2024/25 due to an ACL injury.
