Friday evening’s Bundesliga action sees RB Leipzig attempt to take a huge step towards securing a top-four finish against Union Berlin, who are yet to secure their top-flight survival. Union are unbeaten across the previous three H2Hs (W1, D2) and have lost just one of their last four visits to the Red Bull Arena (W2, D1). Only Dortmund (24) have scored first in more Bundesliga games than Leipzig this term (23).

Leipzig are edging ever closer to securing UEFA Champions League qualification as they enter the final four games with a five-point cushion to fifth after a run of six wins in seven league matches (L1). A maximum of eight points is what the Red Bulls require to secure a seventh top-four finish across eight seasons, and going unbeaten in all ten of their Friday-held Bundesliga home games (W8, D2) indicates three of them could be on the way here. Ole Werner’s men are also unbeaten in five home games overall (W3, D2), scoring six unanswered goals across their last two fixtures here.

Union Berlin made history last time out as Marie-Louise Eta became the first woman in Europe’s top-five leagues to oversee a league game, but the interim manager came up short in a 2-1 defeat to Wolfsburg which extended their winless run to four games (D1, L3). Relegation seems an unlikely prospect for Eta’s side, though a six-point lead over the bottom three means they’re not secure by any means just yet. Union fans can point to a respectable record against the Bundesliga’s top-four this season for confidence (W2, D2, L3), although neither such victory came away from home (D1, L2).

Leipzig are the only Bundesliga side yet to concede in the opening 15 minutes this season. Union are yet to win a league game they conceded first in this term (D5, L11). Four of Union’s last six away matches produced over 3.5 goals.

Yan Diomande scored his 12th Bundesliga goal for Leipzig last weekend, only Lamine Yamal has netted more than the 19-year-old amongst teenagers in Europe’s top-five leagues this season. Oliver Burke was on target last week for the first time since the reverse fixture, with all of his last four strikes coming after half-time.

Willi Orbán missed Leipzig’s win over Frankfurt through injury, while Union’s Jeong Woo-yeong has sat out Union’s last two outings.
