Heidenheim welcome Bayern Bayern Munchen for what will be the final Bundesliga game of 2025 as both sides fight for survival and the title respectively. Bayern Munchen scored eight goals in their H2H double last season, and have netted a whopping 20 times across their five prior meetings with Heidenheim (W4, L1). Heidenheim also managed 11 goals in those games, and won this fixture 3-2 in April 2024. Bayern have scored 2+ goals in a Bundesliga-record 22 successive matches.
Entering the final round before the winter break lodged in the relegation zone, Heidenheim couldn’t have been served a tougher fixture to end the year despite an uptick in form across the previous three rounds (W2, L1). One of just two sides without a clean sheet heading into the round, Heidenheim can at least point to some solid recent home form across the previous five league outings here (W2, D2, L1). Those eight points represent as many as they’d earned in 18 home league games prior, but the Bundesliga’s leakiest defence both home and away (30) pre-round will surely face a torrid afternoon against Bayern’s might.
Bayern Munchen needed an 87th-minute penalty to rescue a point against Mainz last weekend, although they remained unbeaten in the Bundesliga and nine points clear at the top of the table heading into round 15 (W12, D2). Only Bayern themselves back in 2015/16 have picked up more than their 38 points at this stage of a season, while 51 goals represents the highest return by any Bundesliga side ever after 14 games. Playing away won’t necessarily faze Vincent Kompany’s men either as they seek to close out what would be a third calendar year in club history, after 1986 and 2013, without suffering a defeat in away league action (W11, D4).
Eleven of Heidenheim’s 13 league goals this season came after half-time. Heidenheim conceded first in a pre-round league-high 12 games this term. Seven of the league-low 11 goals Bayern Munchen conceded came from corners and free-kicks.
Stefan Schimmer has been involved in a pre-round league-high five goals as a substitute this season (G4, A1), which includes one in each of his last three appearances from the bench. Lennart Karl’s goal against Mainz in the previous round secured his fifth Bundesliga goal involvement at just 17 (G3, A2), a new club record for a player under 18.
Budu Zivzivadze is a doubt for Heidenheim with a knee injury, while Bayern’s Konrad Laimer is suspended, with Manuel Neuer injured and Nicolas Jackson on Africa Cup of Nations duty.
