Just three points separate Crystal Palace and Newcastle United as they meet in this Premier League fixture, with the hosts hoping to build on a memorable midweek European victory. Although Newcastle United have lost just one of the last ten H2Hs (W5, D4), winning three of the last five without conceding (D1, L1), they haven’t triumphed at Selhurst Park since November 2020 (D3, L1). Three of Crystal Palace’s last five league games produced goalless second halves.

Crystal Palace look to have turned a corner having lost just one of their last four league games (W2, D1), and they impressively swept aside Fiorentina 3-0 in Thursday night’s UEFA Conference League quarter-final first leg. Selhurst Park could well be rocking again as the Eagles enter the closing part of the season with ambitions of a top-half finish, but they’ve only won one of their last nine league games immediately following a European outing (D2, L6). Keeping clean sheets in five consecutive home games in all competitions (W3, D2) is encouraging for Oliver Glasner’s side, yet they’ve only won three Premier League games here all season (D7, L5).

Newcastle United arrive aiming to take advantage of any midweek hangover three points ahead of Crystal Palace having played a game more, and with reports this week suggesting that missing out on qualifying for the Champions League will force them to sell big players in the summer. If they’re to avoid that scenario, the Magpies must improve on a recent run of six losses across their last nine league games (W3), including losing 2-1 at home to rivals Sunderland before the international break. At least winning both of their last two top-flight trips to London might give Eddie Howe’s men hope of achieving back-to-back away league wins for the first time since April 2025.

Crystal Palace’s home league fixtures this season have produced a league-low four total goals in the opening 30 minutes. Seven of Newcastle’s last eight Premier League fixtures saw both teams score. Newcastle United are winless across their last seven away league games played on a Sunday (D3, L4).

Ismaïla Sarr completed the scoring in three of Crystal Palace’s last five matches, including on Thursday night, with seven of his last 12 club goals arriving between the 35th minute and half-time. Newcastle’s Anthony Elanga has scored three times across his last four appearances for club and country, with five of his last six club goals netted away from home.

Eddie Nketiah is sidelined for Crystal Palace with a hamstring injury while Bruno Guimarães and Fabian Schär remain unavailable for Newcastle United.
