Brentford prepare for another gruelling Premier League clash when they host table-topping Liverpool, with the form guide firmly against them having won just one of their last eight games (D2, L5). There could’ve easily been another loss on that record in their midweek outing, which saw them trailing 2-0 at home to Manchester City, but a spirited comeback saw them equalise in the 92nd minute to draw 2-2.

Whilst that’s encouraging, Brentford’s current four-game winless run at home (D1, L3) is worrying considering they were victorious in nine of their first ten home games this campaign (D1). A fast start would definitely aid the nerves of manager Thomas Frank, but that wouldn’t mean they’re out of the woods at that point, since no side has lost more Premier League games after scoring first this season than the Bees’ five.

Visitors Liverpool also had to battle back and share the spoils in their last outing, coming from behind to rescue a 1-1 draw away to high-flying Nottingham Forest. Manager Arne Slot has now seen his team win just one of their four games in 2025 (D2, L1), which is in stark contrast to the 40 wins, nine draws, and one defeat in his 50 managerial outings in 2024 (Feyenoord + Liverpool).

That stalemate at Forest did at least mean that Liverpool have now gone their first ten away league games unbeaten this campaign (W7, D3), a record bettered only twice before from the start of a top-flight season. The Reds should therefore hit the road full of confidence despite their recent ‘slump’, especially since they’ve won nine of their last 11 H2Hs against Brentford (D1, L1).

Players to watch: Captain Christian Nørgaard netted the decisive equaliser against City, and he’ll look to step up again since his three goals this season have all come at home and brought positive results (W2, D1). He’ll have to find a way past Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, who has marshalled his troops successfully by conceding just once in his last four games against Brentford.
