Separated by only one point, and sitting just outside the European places, Bologna host Atalanta this Wednesday. After failing to win any of the previous five H2Hs (D1, L4), Atalanta beat Bologna 2-0 in the last meeting between the clubs in April 2025. Nine of Atalanta’s last ten competitive away wins have been accompanied by a clean sheet.

Bologna got their new year off to a losing start on Sunday when they went down 3-1 at Inter Milan and in doing so saw their current winless run in Serie A stretch to five games (D2, L3). It is also five matches in all competitions without a victory inside 90 minutes for the Rossoblù while they have registered a solitary win in their last four games (D1, L2) at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Vincenzo Italiano’s men are still in the UEFA Europa League and through to the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia though, so will be looking to recapture their form of late September to late November when they went 12 matches without defeat (W7, D5).

After ending 2025 with a 1-0 home loss against Inter, Atalanta bounced back immediately in 2026 with a 1-0 victory over Roma on Saturday. That made it seven wins from their last nine games (L2) in all competitions from late November onwards, a real turnaround for Raffaele Palladino’s side, who had triumphed in only one of their nine previous encounters (D5, L3). Somewhat concerningly for La Dea though, they have won just one of their last six league away matches (D2, L3) – a 1-0 victory at Genoa shortly before Christmas – and have not recorded successive wins on the road since their final two trips of last season.

Bologna have not kept a clean sheet in their last ten games. Four of Bologna’s last five Serie A home games have been 0-0 at half-time. There has been exactly one goal in each of Atalanta’s last three matches.

Santiago Castro has scored in both of his previous meetings with Atalanta and ended a six-game wait for a goal with Bologna’s consolation strike against Inter. Atalanta’s Davide Zappacosta has been booked in three of his last four league H2Hs, while both of his yellow cards this season have come in away fixtures.

Neither side seem set to have any fresh absentees.
