Bayern Munchen quest to regain their Bundesliga title hit a bump in the road last week, as the Rekordmeister were beaten 2-1 away at Mainz. That leaves Vincent Kompany’s men with just one win from their last four domestic matches (D1, L2), with their lead at the summit shrinking to just four points as champions Bayer Leverkusen closed the gap.

Leverkusen have not only halted Bayern’s stronghold on the Meisterschale, but ended a proud record of the Bavarian club earning the most Bundesliga points in every calendar year since 2010. Kompany will be confident his men can get back on track at the Allianz Arena where they’re unbeaten in the Bundesliga since March (W8, D1), though recent home H2Hs against RB Leipzig have proved tricky, with Bayern conceding 12 times across the last five meetings here (W2, D1, L2).

Visitors Leipzig seem to have recovered from a terrible November (D1, L5), winning back-to-back Bundesliga matches either side of a sixth successive UEFA Champions League defeat which confirmed their elimination from that competition. As such, the Red Bulls remain in the Bundesliga top-four and with a three-point buffer to the chasing pack and with focus fully trained on their league efforts.

Marco Rose’s men will look to build on a very respectable return of one loss from their last five H2Hs (W2, D2). And this fixture falling on the road should suit Leipzig down to the ground, as they’ve conceded a joint-league low eight times on their Bundesliga travels this term and boast a division-best four away clean sheets ahead of arguably the hardest trip in the Bundesliga.

Players to watch: Jamal Musiala scored a brace in Bayern Munchen last home league game, and assisted a goal in both H2Hs last season. Opening the scoring before half-time in each of the four league games he’s netted in this term, Benjamin Šeško also scored his side’s only goal the last time these sides met in February.
