Rangers and Celtic will both be looking to land an early blow on their fierce rivals when they go head-to-head. Just one point separates these two historic clubs in the Premiership table, so a victory here would hand either side the initiative in the title race.
Rangers would struggle to do anything different in front of the Ibrox crowd, who will want to see their team play on the front foot. However, that could play into Celtic’s hands. A front three of Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and one of Liel Abada or Yang Hyun-jun would be well equipped to expose the Gers in transition.
Rangers are capable of scoring goals too, as they have done in seven of their eight games in all competitions this season. Four of the last five Old Firms have featured three or more goals, so we anticipate more of the same this time out.
What a signing Kyogo has been for Celtic. Few of the club’s fans had heard of the Japanese forward before his arrival in Glasgow in 2021 but he is now a cult hero at Parkhead. His scoring record is phenomenal. In 85 appearances for Celtic, he has found the back of the net 56 times.
Rangers struggle to control matches right now as their hard-working playmaker Davies remains out. Both Jack and Lundstram have been disappointing in his absence. As the former started on Wednesday it seems likely that now Lundstram will be picked from the off.
Celtic lost the last edition of the derby in May but they won 4 of the previous 5 matches vs Rangers and the confidence remains high that the Green and Whites will prevail again in the next battle for Glasgow.
