It looks increasingly likely that the Premier League relegation battle is now between the bottom four sides, and Leicester City find themselves amongst that unfortunate group of sides. The Foxes sit 18th in the table and a point behind Wolves in 17th, but leapfrogging the West Midlands outfit before their Sunday clash with league leaders Liverpool won’t be easy given Leicester face an Arsenal side they’ve lost their last six top-flight games against.

Four successive home league defeats ‘to nil’ suggest there’s little chance of that run ending here, with Leicester now facing the prospect of becoming only the fourth side in top-flight history to lose five in a row on home turf without scoring in the same campaign. Avoiding unwanted history against one of the league’s big-hitters seems a tall order given Leicester have lost ten of their 11 league games this season against sides starting the round ninth or higher, although they did score in seven of those defeats.

The picture is bleak for Leicester but it’s far brighter for Arsenal, who are now unbeaten in 14 Premier League games (W9, D5). They haven’t had a better such run since the 2010/11 season when the legendary Arsène Wenger was in charge, and after having no FA Cup action last weekend, they’ve been afforded some extra time in the Dubai sun to get over their Carabao Cup semi-final elimination at the hands of Newcastle.

Their 2-0 defeat on Tyneside in their last outing ended a nine-match unbeaten record on the road for the Gunners (W6, D3), who strangely kept just one clean sheet in that time. Getting back to winning ways should be a formality for Mikel Arteta’s side, who have won 21 of their last 25 Premier League matches against sides who sat in the relegation zone at the time of the fixture (D3, L1).

Players to watch: Only Harry Kane (14) and Wayne Rooney (12) have netted more Premier League goals against Arsenal than Leicester’s Jamie Vardy (11). Scorer of Arsenal’s first goal in the previous Premier League round, Martin Ødegaard also opened the scoring away from home last season on matchday 25 against Burnley, who were the Championship winners from the season prior, setting up the opportunity here for a strange repeat.
