With no more international breaks until March, Arsenal will hope to ramp up their title bid with no interruptions. In truth though, they may have been glad for the last pause as it gave them chance to reset after a four-match winless league run (D2, L2) saw them slip a whopping nine points off the title pace – a deficit that despite the season only being 11 games old, feels incredibly difficult to overcome.

They should at least feel confident of getting back to winning ways this weekend against a Nottingham Forest side they’ve beaten in six of the last seven Premier League H2Hs (L1). An eight-match unbeaten home league run (W6, D2) should serve as an additional confidence boost that they can snap out of their downward spiral, and incredibly, Arsenal haven’t lost a Saturday-held top-flight home game since April 2022 (W17, D3).

If you had told most Nottingham Forest fans that they’d be level on points with Arsenal after 11 Premier League rounds this season, they’d probably have laughed. But that’s the position they find themselves in here, with fans of the 1979 and 1980 European cup winners now dreaming of gracing the continental stage for the first time since 1995/96 after a remarkable start to the season (W5, D4, L2).

Impressive away form has been at the forefront of Nottingham Forest’s recent success, as they’re now unbeaten in seven successive away league games dating back to last season (W5, D2). Three of the five games this season came against fellow top-six sides (W1, D2), so Forest won’t fear travelling to another of the league’s big-hitters, especially as boss Nuno Espírito Santo has only lost one of his four managerial visits to the Emirates (W1, D2).

Players to watch: Gabriel Martinelli may have scored in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea before the international break, but his nine club appearances prior all ended in victory. He also boasts four goal involvements in five H2Hs against Nottingham Forest (G3, A1). Fellow Brazilian Murillo scored his first-ever senior goal prior to the international break but he is more of a pass master, averaging more passes per game (41) than any other Forest player in the league this season.

Hot stat: Seven of Nuno Espírito Santo’s eight personal H2Hs against Arsenal saw both teams score.
